He did a bunch of work, including Harlequin with Ralf Hildenbeutel, who was one of the better Harthouse producers. I always preferred Hildenbeutel's individual productions to those with Mr. Vath. All of it was on the trancey end of things before that was a bad word. Some of it was extremely dense and involved. I think one of the best efforts was a Harthouse compilation called "Mission Into Drums" that wasn't 1/2 as hard as the title would indicate. Hildenbeutel was at the top of my list of early-mid '90s trance producers along with Oliver Lieb, the Rising High crew and Sun Electric (yes - I know they weren't *just* trance producers, but they did make trance). Please no anti-trance flames. I'm sure most of us can, do and have agreed about that - and you'll be preaching to the converted at best. This was well before the codification of the genre as we know it today. Some of it may be a bit too "sweet" by most techno tastes, but it was every bit the evolving genre that techno was for a brief time, until it became a marketing tool rather than a musical style. I feel like I just wrote one of those email legal disclaimers that so many of our subscribers are stuck with today. :) > I read an interview with him in a dutch magazine 2 years ago where he said > that producers who start to DJ are lame and just a sell-out. He didn't say > anything about a DJ who needs other producers to make records as the DJ. Ack! I'm not touching either part of that one with a 10 foot pole. :) Tristan ------------------- http://www.mp313.com <- Music http://www.metrotechno.net <- DC techno + more http://www.metatrackstudios.com <- DC DJ/Production studios http://phonopsia.tripod.com <- Hub [EMAIL PROTECTED] <- email --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
