Yeah Motor has gotten really stale. I think it's because someone new does all their booking, and didn't they get new ownership? Anyway that place has gone really downhill, they have cheesy dancers, lights and horrible talent for the most part. There are a few exceptions though. They should have been voted #1 club in the US about 2 or 3 years ago.
As for Porter St., great club, my favorite event there so far was seeing Chaos, awesome show. It's a little pricey, and they could use a better bar. I wish it was on Fridays instead of Thursdays, because there would be more people there. It definately has a lot of potential though and they bring in good talent on a regular basis! It's a nice crowd. I have no input about Motor, but my one experience at Porter St. (shake, about a month ago) was great! The sound system is nice, the atmosphere is tasteful and good for dancing, and from the periodic updates i get about their shows it seems like they're pretty seriously committed to bringing in quality people.
