Alright I suppose it's my turn now...I am completely exhausted, so bear
with me if this post doesn't make complete sense;-)

Highlights from the pilgrimage...

- Sets at the plaza by Rick Wade, Waxmaster D Smooth, Greg Collier and
Traxx. I hear Rachmad, Huckaby's sets and the one by the Sonic Groove crew
on the main stage on Monday night were excellent...sorry I missed 'em.
Rolando and James Pennington ripped it up Saturday at the UR party as did
Buzz - it was also cool to see Waxmaster Don step up to the decks for a
quick second late night whilst Buzz went off to the bathroom or somewhere.
Ron Trent's set at the KMS party was flawless, I wish we hadn't missed
Kevin's set though. Also good to see Fred all over and to meet the very
nice woman he was with at KMS (forget her name though, was that your
wife?). Our friend Tom had the best set of the night at Input Friday
night...too bad Alton Miller refused to play though as I am sure that
would've been great.

- Live PAs that turned me on at the fest were Deep Chord (they really should
release that video as a DVD methinks!) and Green Velvet. Ultradyne making
the sun rise on Monday morning with their sick ass PA was truly
inspiring...as were the ones by Archetype, Audio Matrix and the Tek
Brothers at our party Sunday night/Monday morning.

- Hangin' with the UR folks Friday and Saturday nights...those guys are just
SO nice. The Cabaret was so much fun I don't think I stopped smiling the
whole time... To paraphrase Alex Lugo: 'Price of admission? - $5, bottle
of vodka and mixers? - $30, seeing Mad Mike in a suit, and our drunken
friends Bryan and Tom get seduced/attacked by a couple of Hoochie Mommas? -
Priceless!';-) It was great to see Otto and Kent again and to finally meet
KJ and Cornelius. How many other artists handed out hundreds of free
personally autographed records at their parties and smiled whilst doing it??

- PEMF Monday night... Rich and Sammy D's set was excellent, best set I
have heard outta Rich in ages...certainly better imho than the monotonous
stuff he played Sunday morning (though that Pink Floyd system was well worth
hearing even if we were only able to endure it for a short while). Kooky
and Ricardo's PAs were great as well, if it was difficult to see just what
they were up to. Meeting up with the Williamsburg/New York peeps in the VIP
was totally unexpected and fun. Panacea may be geared towards the beautiful
people but it is a really nice space and the sound was great. Thanks for
the hook-up Ollie:)

- As Pete already mentioned the all weekend Spin/Vibe party in the
Presidential suite next door to our room was a nice change of pace from the
crowds at the plaza...thanks to Jake and Carmen for the free libations and
tunes:)

- Juan Atkins dropping Work That Body to close the first night (totally
unexpected). Too bad a bank of speakers on our side of the Main stage were
totally blown out by that point.

- Detroit. The city, the people, the architecture and the ruins.

- Finally getting to play a set in the city whose music I love so
much...thanks Alex:-)

- Showing Clandestine (Buzz) how to use my mixer and then watching him
*abuse* it at our party Sunday night was cool...I'll never know how he can
be so tight on those crapped out decks he let us use for the party.

- Almost getting jacked at that Coney spot on Gratiot before the UR party
Saturday night is a Detroit experience I won't soon forget!

- Skulking around inside the Packard Plant with Grammenos and Charles early
in the AM yesterday was one of the most intriguing things we did all
weekend...never gonna forget that. It was indeed scarey and spooky as all
Hell, but eerily beautiful at the same time. The sounds running through
the walls sounded like the ghosts of tracks played at parties long past and
freaked us out like you wouldn't believe!

There is plenty of things I am surely forgetting to mention or just don't
really care to share (due to their personal nature). It was one Hell of a
spiritual weekend for this boy from NYC. To those that made it a truly
special weekend Alex, Dennis, Charles, Barbara, Kevin, Jake, Mad Mike,
Koert, Ronald, Marcy, Adam, Luna, Chrissana - and of course Pete and
Bryan; Thanks sooooo much:-) To those I intended to meet up with and
didn't manage to...there is always next year!

There were negatives to the weekend as well, but I won't dwell on them
except to say this: I swear to God if I get mistaken for Dave Clarke or
Richie by some silly techno-stalker again anytime soon I will not be
responsible for my actions! ;-)

Now if I could just find my voice, which I lost at the UR party Saturday
night (and I know I'm not the only one;).

I think I am gonna sleep for a week...

Lates,

m*
