I remember when Kirk Franklin tried to make christian music contemporary by adding some flat hiphop beats and some george clinton. I think Franklin is an idiot anyway...(actually tried to argue that he was like a holy drug dealer, with this "jesus rock"...as if the only way to get young black men and women to become christian is to use wack ass drug metaphors). But it seemed to me that the most spiritual and uplifting music I've ever heard is disco...and house. They are like NATURALS. And as I've gotten older I've actually become more enamored of the lush, uplifting house sound.
