>>drexciya - grava 4 [clone] hmmm, i'm not quite sure about this. i loved drexciya when their sounds were all over the place. one track deep and warm
and the next cold and hard. it seems to me that by releasing stuff like the other peoples place [deep warm melodic] and transllusion [hard raw] the drexciya material released under their own name stays somewhere in the middle, not getting as experimental as it used to get. it sounds a bit like 'harnessed the storm' that i didn't quite know what to make of either. but if you liked that album, you'll love this aswell. me, i'm not sure yet, maybe i've got to listen to it more often to fully enjoy it [now that sounds like a real hard punishment -> 'now go up to your room and listen to drexciya all evening']<< Actually - you do kinda have to listen to it several times to get into it. It's not as immediate as Drexciya's previous material. I really didn't like the album at first listen (except for the first track) but slowly it's gotten under my skin and now I find it to be quite funky. I've listened to Grava 4 and currently it's in my hold bag at my local shop (curious - any of the record shops near you do this for you too?). Even though it doesn't grab me right away I know I'm going to discover some little golden nugget buried in the sound as soon as I get it home and give it a good listening to. Recent purchases for me: Radioactive Man vs Transparent Sounds - Beatz Clash Vol 1 [longhaul] fantastic 4x12" of that wickedly dark electrobreaks sound from the Electrecord and Contro Tower artitst Sote - Electric Deaf [Warp] A side is a jungle track that is distorted to no end - bleep & bass in the year 2002 alive and f*cking off the hook. B side is a little bit cleaned up as far as the distortion but adds a wicked melody and some messed up robotic vocoder. some super limited remix series (500 records of a series of 12? releases) that the Orb has put out - I got the one with the Curley & Sherman remix on one side (I forget who is on the flip) and the Sons of Slough on the other - unbelievably funky, dark and hard electro shinanigans. God I love this sh+t! Also just picking up old Warp records 01 and 02 on eBay. Need more electro bleeps please! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
