1st wave of Detroit I guess it's Juan, Derrick and Kevin. 2nd Wave might be
C2 and UR then (?).

people use these expresseions at all?

The wave terminology comes from Toffler, and his book 'The Third Wave',
which infomed some of the early techno ideology (to oversimplify things). I
just stumbled across this, which is one take on it:
http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/1392/DetroitTechno.html

"If Juan Atkins Derrick May Kevin Saunderson are the first wave of Detroit
Techno artists; Carl Craig, the Underground Resistance crew and ... the
second wave, then Moodymann (Kenny Dixon Jr) Theo Parrish and Terrence
Parker are the third wave".

I think this guy may have his timelines a bit off and is neglecting a few
folks. But I think that illustrates that it's all pretty subjective... TP
has been DJing for 20 years. Does that make him a 1st Wave DJ and a 3rd Wave
producer??? No point in digging that deep into it really.

Just remember: Steve Paton is the 4th Wave. :)
