Hi,
last night Dj Rolando played a wicked set here in Rome.
Unfortunately I am not a super duper spotter so i wont sit here and list all
the tracks he played. But i can say that there was no cheese, fromage frais
or yoghurt...it was straight up TECHNO.
He started off by playing what some pure 313 tracks mixing seamlessly form
one track to the next. At one point, when he got the floor really jumping he
dropped a few neapolitan tecno tracks including a superb an funky danilo
vigorito track. he also played a nights of the jaguar white label/promo. the
encore was nights of the jaguar "standard version".
He also mixed oxia into french kiss (thanks rolly :-) and also played a
familiar gary martin track, the one with the killer 303 bassline.
The set started around 1.30-2 and stopped after 4. After the set i went to
thank him, as i always do after a good set and asked if he knew the 313 list
(fab representin') to which he amusely answered "i stay away from it" :-)))
musically it was excellent, i never once stopped dancing but i am puzzled by
the choice of hosting this fine event on a tuesday. rolando didnt seem to
stoked to play to a crowd that at the end was only of about 30 people. why
have dj rolando play on a tuesday when you know that you wont fill the
venue? rome is not london where people go out clubbing on mondays and
tuesdays....could it be that it was cheaper to host? the clubs' most famous
night is a thursday where they play house and have even hosted Jeff Mills,
so why not school the crowd having Dj Rolando play on thursday; im sure the
regular, pig-ignorant punters wont be put off by seeing an "uknown" name in
the lineup.

anyway, i had a great time even though the thought of having to wake up to
go to work after 4 hours sleep wasnt exactly an incentive to getting my
rocks off.....

have a nice day
fab.
