Portable used to live in a flat directly above me when I lived in Whitechapel - I could tell that he was into music, but oddly enough all I'd hear from his flat sounded like him jamming on a pipe organ! I then saw him do a PA at Plastic People about six months after moving out, and was pretty shocked at how good it was - after all, bear in mind that I had been expecting a pipe organ solo. He still lives around East London but not in the same flat - it's an odd coincidence to find out that for three years I lived right below someone who made such good music, without realising that was what was going on! He must use headphones for monitoring, or something like that, because I *never* heard anything other than that crazy organ in all that time... Brendan
