Euopeans ( and the whole world) like listening to good music. Full stop.
Sorry - period.
I don't know how you've inferred these assumptions from somebody saying they
weren't that excited by hearing Mills playing funk and disco records.
I hope you are not suggesting that we Europeans are desperately trying to
impress African Americans by faking an interest in their music - that's
bullsh*t and you know it. America seems to me to be a lot more divided
along those lines - in Britain we don't really have black or white
neighbourhoods, and we're all pretty unselfconsious about dancing anyway and
anywhere we feel like dancing (well I do anyway!). I am generalising here
but in Britain, we (by this I mean me and many of my generation) do not see
music along race lines like that - it's all music, whether you choose to
call it soulful or not. Surely soulful is just a label that tries to decribe
music that conveys emotion and feeling?
Maybe you should visit Europe and take a reality check, instead of spitting
venom and imagining everyone else sees music as split into two separate
corrals of white soulless music and black soulful music.

I'm talking about the "soul" phenomenon. how many people who think they know
their "soul" are actually in touch with
black (African American) culture?
Could you go to a black neighborhood and show people your dance moves with
out getting laughed at?
Or show people your deep house, soulful techno projects and pass it off as
"soulful" music?
I think a lot of you need a reality check especially you people living in
Europe.
