I never thought I could have Detroit Moments[tm] out here in LA, but ...
whoomp, there it is.
DJ Bone is dating a woman who lives about 10 miles from me, and he was out
here for her birthday, and they had a little house party for it last night.
(I meet another big Detroit DJ, I meet another surpremely nice person.
Hmmn, I see a pattern here ... )
So I got to hear Bone drop "The Final Frontier" (a song that still gives
me chills up and down my spine every time I hear it) in a living room
filled with about 8 people. :)
I also got to meet Juan Atkins (who is so slimmed down that for a second I
thought he'd brought Mike Grant with him when he first walked in), his wife
and daughter. And now have a memory of Juan's daughter giggling
uncontrollably as she got bounced around in the Moonbounce set up in
the backyard because she got stuck in the middle and couldn't stand up :)
Big public thanks to 313'er Vidal (viagratek) for the invite. Wish I
could've gone downtown to see Theo Parrish but this old man keeps early hours
these days ...
