A few of my friends got a room at the RenCen Marriot right next to Hart Plaza... seems to me like they were able to get a double occupancy room for somewhere between $150-$200 a night (with a view looking directly over DEMF, even). Not very cheap, but if you're planning to have 2 or 3 friends to split the cost with you, it's not bad. I opted to get a room by myself out in Warren and make the 20 minute drive downtown... glimpses of some of the floor lobbies at the Marriot nearly reminded me of college dorm parties, with all the raver-wannabe kids running around and what not. But if near the action is where you want to be, that's one of your first options.
