It's sad how a lot of people have turned their backs on
techno.
It really is one of the most misunderstood and hated
electronic music genres out there, I would attribute the lack
of interest to the popularity of house and trance and the
older
(elitist) generation maturing away from techno to other
forms
of electronic music. (i.e., IDM, Larry Heard, Broken Beat,
Moodyman, "soulful" house, electro, ect..)
One of the major dance mags should dedicate an entire issue
to
'techno' highlighting some of the established techno talent
like Carola, and the few surviving techno artist from Detroit
like T1000 still creating
"Detroit techno" of course also the new up and coming
talent
from
around the World you dont hear much about making techno
for the 21'st Century.
Some guy once told me 'techno' no longer resembles the
early Detroit techno sound.
How is Drumcode really that different than Mayday, Wiggin
(one of the first techno records) or Nude Photo?
They are both repetitive track based DJ Tools oriented
electronic music based
in minimalism, abstraction, and futurism.
People like Robert Hood are one of the few Detroit schooled
techno artist still making techno records.
