There's a Kompakt showcase at 93 Feet East: FEBRUARY: 28th EAT YOR OWN EARS ALL ROOMS: 8pm - 2am. £10.50 in advance. Eat Your Own Ears invites the ultra cool Cologne label KOMPAKT to 93 to play their FIRST EVER UK SHOW. Kompakt is now considered a not-to-be-missed label, don't ask why, just listen! An elder statesman of the German techno/house scene and electronic pioneer THOMAS FEHLMANN makes a special visit to London to play a very rare live set. Fehlmann who has worked with the likes of The Orb, Moritz Von Oswald (Rhythm & Sound) and others plays a live set of beautifully constructed and pop-fuelled soulful tech house, combining clicks and cuts with dance floor frenzied beats. Michael Mayer collaborator, and technopop king, TOBIAS THOMAS, takes to the decks to play a marathon set of his unique brand of sexed up anthemic techno -expect brilliant uplifting, pulsating rhythms and deep melodic bass lines. Regular Mike Ink collaborator, THE MODERNIST (AKA JORG BURGER), plays a rare live set of pop influenced electronic music, featuring clean broken beats with typical 80s' drum machine sounds, nice strings and sweet melodies. Kraftwerk's Wolfgang FlYR rated Burger's LP, 'Lush Life Electronica' as one of his all-time favourite electronic records and recruited Burger to mix his post-Kraftwerk project Yamo. Aphex Twin's label REPHLEX RECORDS presents 'The Braindance Room' featuring CYLOB. He brings with him a box of killer records, mixing pulsating, deep, dark underground electro with acid rave and old school classics. K-ROCK & MADDOG "COUGAR" WALLACE play a typically unique and inspiring set; mixing twisted drill and bass, acid techno jungle with the odd injection of stunning electronic soundscapes. MANITOBA fresh from his recent stay in the USA drags down a box of his favourite party rocking old school hip hop records, and perhaps his own new releases. SOURCE RECORDS DJS provide a tasty selection of old school electro along with punk-funk, dark-disco and crunchy beats... I was really looking forward to going to hear him until I found out today that I've been mis-informed & he's not playing Flux this w/e. This now leaves me with a dilemma! I want to go clubbing this w/e but ideally I don't want to go to the Chainstore (love Mills but don't like the venue too much.) Onsulade got a mention but I really have no idea who he/she/they are. Can someone enlighten me pls? If anyone knows of any other techno nights going on in London this w/e then pls. let me know as well. Thanks, G.
