i agree with you (with the proviso that the digital media ogg/mp3/whatever
is of sufficient bandwidth/quality)....

i think once most dj/producers realise the possibilities for doing
their own edits/mixes of their fave tracks etc with things like FS (and
yeah the denon with the spinning disk) then things will really change.

(ok the edit is done in your sw of choice, the mechanism for playing that
is the cool thing)

yep agreed, to me there's something very appealing about not having huge
stacks of vinyl but still having the music. another part of me would never
give em up tho. so i'm torn.

a licensed comp of essential tracks? yeah not a bad idea (include the mp3
with it too like novamute have started to do?)
