I use a 60's electric bar heater with a sort of 'steel-lite' finish and nice big flat top. ( 2 bar heater). The top gets quite hot, but not too hot to sit on. I put the record on the top of the heater, turn it on , watch very carefully, at a certain point it slumps flat then turn the heater off. Used this after a few nasty oven experiments.....
