It's amazing to me how one or two notes from a single instrument could be so prominent on another standout record almost 30 years later.
Unless I'm mistaken, Soulsaver uses just that much from "Here I Am (Come And Take Me)" by Al Green from 1972, with Charles Hodges from the Hi Records house band on organ. This is one of a series of all-time-great tracks they recorded around that time, most of them with Al Jackson from Stax across town in Memphis (you know the Stax house band as Booker T & the MGs). These are those instantly recognizable songs -- Call Me, Love and Happiness, Let's Stay Together, etc. *Now* we're finally talking about soul music. http://www.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,95554,00.html fred
