It's amazing to me how one or two notes from a single instrument
could be so prominent on another standout record almost 30 years
later.

Unless I'm mistaken, Soulsaver uses just that much from "Here I Am
(Come And Take Me)" by Al Green from 1972, with Charles Hodges
from the Hi Records house band on organ.  This is one of a series
of all-time-great tracks they recorded around that time, most of
them with Al Jackson from Stax across town in Memphis (you know
the Stax house band as Booker T & the MGs).  These are those
instantly recognizable songs -- Call Me, Love and Happiness,
Let's Stay Together, etc.

*Now* we're finally talking about soul music.
