25/07/03-31/07/03: Tristan Watkins a.k.a. Phonopsia (Metrotechno)
English-born Tristan Watkins spent most of his nomadic existence in the
states, growing up in California, Michigan and Iowa. At the age of 18
Tristan started DJing at the University of Iowa's college radio station,
KRUI. Later, Tristan was a regular performer at the Rotation parties,
opening for some of Chicago and Detroit's finest DJs. After moving to
washington D.C. in 2001, Tristan co-founded the Metrotechno DJ crew. Not
wanting to stop there, Tristan was the driving force behind the creation of
mp313.com, a non-profit website devoted to exposing Detroit-influenced
electronic music, presently housing music from Christian Bloch and his own
music as Phonopsia, among others. Over the last 11 years Tristan has DJ'd in
Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, Windsor Canada, Baltimore, D.C. and London.
Tristan has performed alongside the legendary Terrence Parker on 4
occasions, has been spotted on lineups with Traxx, Sean Deason, Kelvin
Larkin, Stewart Walker and has played at DEMF pre-parties in 2001and 2003.
He describes his DJ style as a fluid mixture of house, techno and broken
beats, integrating the best of Berlin, Chicago, Detroit, New York, Paris,
West London and beyond........

01/08/03-07/08/03: Darren Ashley (Outlet Collective)
We're very pleased to showcase Darren, and this House and Techno mix
shows precisely why! Darren first came into contact with vinyl whilst still
at school, and ever since, the love for it has continued to grow to this
day. The electicism that he injects into his sets makes for exciting
listening, and it is not unusual to hear many styles mixed together with
ease. Darren DJ's regularly as part of London's Outlet Collective, across
the U.K. Highlights for him have been performing alongside artists such as
808State (childhood hero's!) and Drum and Bass don, Ed Rush. As his DJ'ing
continues to rock dancefloors across London and beyond, Darren is preparing
himself to pursue the lofty heights of the production world- and if he is as
affluent in the studio as he is on the decks, then you'll be hearing a lot
more from Darren in the future.

08/08/03-14/08/03: Ryan Blackman (Flux/Samurai.fm)
As the driving force behind London Underground, Ryan takes the baton
from the guests to deliver a trademark furious, funked up, three decks
techno assault.

15/08/03-21/08/03: Hazell (Outlet Collective)
Hazell has been DJ'ing for just over four years. However, he has been
playing music to people in one form or another for most of his life by means
of mix-tapes, college radio, bars, and a few years ago he helped form the
nucleus of a musically diverse collective called 'The Outlet Collective'
which has since gone on to undertake a number of weekly residencies and,
independently, put on and promote their own events - The latest incarnation
being their S.E.N.D. project which takes place at The Rhythm Factory in East
London. As well as the ongoing saga of the Outlet collective Hazell has
undertaken 2 London based residencies; at monthy eclectic workout, North
London based 'Rock Recordings' driven 'Heist' - A fairly new project largely
dedicated to, not unlike Outlet, providing a platform for underexposed DJs -
and for the on-going series of 'MissEdukation' parties hosted by South
London's 'Child Genius Recordings'. The kind of music incorporated into his
DJ sets AND how he plays it depends largely on to whom he's playing and
where. Whether it be a full on assault of quickly mixed Hip Hop and Funk;
playing double copies, cutting, scratching and using accapellas to create
something new ("I don't see my self as a turntablist however - just a DJ in
the old sense of the word"), a smoothly blended, more club-orientated style
within the Techno/House/Electro axis, 'a la' Sundays at the 'Duke Of York' -
over an extended period of time concentrating more on individual tracks and
a general no frills eclectic flow of quality music - or a combination of
these aspects. Hazell's eclecticism shines through in his exclusive mix fopr
London Underground. Make sure you tune in.

22/08/03-28/08/03: Rob Euroh (Remote Audio)
Rob Euroh mixes and scratches new-school Electro in a similar style to
the Detroit DJs. His sets usually consist of a fast and furious mixing
style, complimented with trickery and scratching- including a unique scratch
method developed by Rob himself. The "Euroh Scratch" pioneered and 1999
after experimenting with brand new Vestax equipment, and as they say, the
rest is history..........With all these elements fused together, its as much
about watching what the DJ is going to do next as it is about dancing and is
therefore altogether more entertaining than watching a regular mix DJ.
Having invented a new style of scratch now regularly used by the DMC mixing
champions the Scratch Perverts; The Euroh Scratch, Rob has become a legend
in his own scratch-time.Rob hails from Brighton, where he produces his own
Electro as well as collaborating with fellow graffiti writer and long time
friend Req 1, of Skint and Warp. He is also a partner in new Electro label
Remote Audio, and alonside longtime friend and collaborator Scape One has
contributed some very well received tracks to their three compilation
albums. Rob has an impressive back catalogue of tracks, on significant
record labels and a lineage that reaches as far back as the raves of the
early 1990s Rob is the old school of Nu Skool, and we're delighted he can
perform for London Underground.
