"Using +/-8 gives you a hell of a lot more room to work when spinning less
than 90 minutes."

I've been noticing in web/magazine articles people talking about set times
and how there are fewer clubs with DJ residencies. Maybe it's because I've
been looking at bios on DJ from the 70s and early 80s but even in newer
articles I've noticed DJs talking about how it's slowly degrading club
atmospheres. I've been thinking about this quite alot lately as I'm ramping
up to start my regular Saturday night gig and hopefully nurture a
following. So, what's up in your neck of the woods - how many places have
the standard guard that you can rely on without the extra "guest DJ? every
night they present?
We've got several nights here but usually they have the same rotating DJs
(and up to four or five per night) that get only an hour or two (tops) on
the decks - and now that they have pushed the closing times back on hour it
seems like they've just added an extra name to the line-up instead of
giving the DJ more time.
