i count two specials

Special Project - The Symphony/Warped - 12" - Elevate Special - elvsp1
One of the two important Detroit distribution companies, Seventh City seems
to shut down. But on the other hand Dan Bell's new label Elevate is pretty
alive. After two 'regular' releases, the first special one sees daylight.
Two long groovy house tracks, starting off with The Symphony. A long disco
inspired club track, which got a juicy change in the middle with some
sweeping organ sounds. Warped is a more minimal, but too funky house track.
Very fine release. (Arnold)

Dan Bell - Subterranean - 12" - Elevate Special Project - elvsp2
On his own Elevate label Dan Bell brings his second ep again as 'a special
project'. Less minimalistic as the first 'special' one, but on the other
side tighter as the Detroit house stuff by Parrish & Dixon. Subterranean is
the long track on the a-side, cool house track, with tight beats with short
sample loops. The Wild Life and also Bersek on the b-side are more spacy,
experimental and minimal, as on side a with shorter loops. With these tracks
Dan Bell proves to find it's own way in the detroit house and to extend the
sound.

LoSoul - Open Door - 12" - Elevate- el003
Open Door by LoSoul is liscenced from the German Playhouse label and forms
together with the 'behind closed doors' mix by Theo Parrish this third
'official' release on Dan Bell' Elevate label. The original is a fine
tech-house track, build around a short funky guitar/bass loop, along with
clear pumping beats. Theo Parrish turns out another fine lo-fi house track,
which doesn't contain that much of the original. Parrish moves toward a more
minimal sound in this track. Fine release all together.

Theo Parish - Baby Steps - 12" - Elevate - EL001
Rick Wade - Night Trackin' - 12" - Elevate - EL002
A new shot from Detroit on the lo-fi house tip, this new label called
Elevate, starting with these two very fine releases. In style of the
avantgarde bumpy disco of Kenny Dixon Jr. and likes, Theo Parish takes of
with the delicious Baby Steps ep. From the dreamy Walking to through the sky
towards the funky ass-mover Lake Shore Drive it's deeply beyond house music
all the way. On the flip comes Early Byrd a long smooth track fully loaded
with juicy samples. The second platter on this Elevate label, Night Trackin'
brings us four tracks by mr Rick Wade. Somewhat more straight forward, but
again very juicy and fine. Top shot is I can't take it, a high energy groovy
house towards surrealistic dance. Futher more fine housey tunes as Night
Track, all with highly the funk within them. Dancing the night away..
(Arnold)
