it's been shut for over 2 months now with the last night being the british
murder boys tour end of july with surgeon + regis live. the venue's been
sold and is being converted to a restaurant apparently. the player / red
seal studio has already kicked out by the new owners so it seems work's
already begun on the place. hopefully this'll mean we won't get a new player
record for a long while. (only kidding chaps!!)

it's looking doubtful they'll carry on or if they are to do they're keeping
it very very low profile.

it's a real shame cos i've had the best nights of my life in that place.
plus 8 held their first party in the uk there, mills played only his 2nd gig
ever in the uk at orbit then proceeded to rock the place many more times
until he saw his arse in 98, ur held a party back in 92ish with alan oldham,
sven vath's been pretty much a resident for 11+ years holding many of his
birthday parties there along with some classic harthouse and omen nights.
daft punk played long before anyone knew who they were as did underworld,
autechre, lfo, speedy j and too many more. claude young played his first
ever (and only?) live set at orbit one new year after turning up the
previous new year (not booked) with a bag of records begging to play!
derrick may once got a taxi from london to drive the 200+ miles just so he
could play for the final 20 minutes. the list is pretty much endless and i
could waffle for hours but i've got work to do.....

things change though and there's several nights already doing the business
in leeds. superconductor for one. check out their listings at
www.superconductormusic.co.uk john acquaviva plays next week. we're also to
start up again in the new year keeping it dark and minimal and will bring
leeds the finest the uk has to offer with regular uk label nights and
irregular special international guests. (we're hoping to host a very
special 313 party with the superconductor boys very soon, can't confirm any
details yet but watch this space)

keep checking www.innercity.co.uk for leeds updates.
