let me just say how dissappointed i was with this album. i had the
record shop i work for get me one in, and i didnt end up buying
it. i think the promo is still just sitting there, basically
unplayed. there are some really great moments in basically every
new track, but theyre drowned out by over emotive singing to the
point of cheesiness and/or pointless noodly solos. when i was done
listening to it, i just wanted to take the original multi tracks
and do dub type mixes of the tracks and nix most of the vocals and
solos. if that was done, it would be awesome. he just didnt
restrain himself in any way. also annoying was the inclusion of
previously released joints like the omoa 2 single again, the
jazzanova rmx, etc. those would be fine to put on the CD issue or
whatever but wasting vinyl space on stuff thats so easy to still
get was irritating. and it really made my opinion of his album
drop when i heard that john arnold album that is just simply light
years ahead of it. all the funky stuff i expected was delivered,
and with good musicianship but also with restraint. even the
tracks that feature ayro on them have much less noodly garbage
going on and have a good strong sense of arrangement. eh. too bad,
i was expecting so much from ayro. at least john arnold delivered.
