the info i always went on is from the below article, for ideological
reasons i'd prefer LAME (or any open source). mp3 tho is a propietary
format (despite what many think) and so a properly licensed encoder is
likely to win out in a situation such as this. if the fraunhofer people
really went after the royalties in this situation the switch to ogg
vorbis may eventually happen. anyway i digress, here's some data:
