Love the Britney review  : )

I've never really got Villalobos' stuff either.  I listen to everything of his I see on the shelf, trying to understand what everyone else can see.  maybe I'm missing that gene.

i'm up right now for the next 2 hours

thanks for tuning in

here's last weeks playlist:

taho - butterfly (sub static)
Hmm... i don't know anything about these guys at all. Really nice, chilled, housey and melodic

michael mayer - privat (kompakt)
A shuffle time deep melodic track from Mayer on his incredibly busy label from cologne

unai - stormy spring, mild summer (force tracks)
Sleazy electro tinged track on the (reportedly) fiscally challenged force inc....

cybotron - clear (fantasy)
Inspirational grooves from the man like juan

radioactive man - airlock (RGC)
Highlight on the the recent radioactive man album booby trap. Overall the album is a bit patchy, and doesn't have very good coherence, but this track is a gem (albeit getting a bit overplayed now)

mesak haivenet - Haiven (klakson)
One half of Mr. Velcro Fastener with some sublime electronic meanderings

Decal - Gadgets {from brighest star} (RGC)
The closing track on Alan o boyle's excellent album on RGC last year. Watch out for his new album coming out soon on Satamile

Sterac electronics - Next Destination dub (music man)
Rachmad played here in dublin last thursday night. I popped in after work. LAst time he was over he played an outstanding set of 80'2 electro. This time around it was hard, minimal funky techno. His mixing was wee bit ropey and he didn't seem fully into it. But nevertheless some good tunes played and the crowd reaction was excellent

Electronic home entertainment - the drift (danza electronica)
W jorg Henze and frank lorber with some lite german techno on this patchy label

Marco Passarani - hall (pigna)
Italy's answer to kenny larkin playing here on April 1st in the metrolitan with some eejit supporting him.

Simon digby - fiesta del sol (UK Gold remix) (Primevil)
The rest of teh Ep is bog standard tribal techno, but Chris MacCormack turns in a latino house rework on the flipside... a distinct whiff of edam

Andreas Saag - Jazz lesson (Session)
Multiple bongo loops just begging to be quantized...

Kelis - Milkshake (Arista)
I don't care what anyone says, I think this is a deadly tune. Neptunes muscling in again with a seriously sleazy bassline, kelis' vocals are never overwhelming and teh video is a treat as well ;P

Talk Talk -its my life (from its my life) (EMI)
This is the original track that No doubt covered last year. I actually thought the no doubt version was pretty good. I picked up this album in London last weekend

The Martian - Tobacco Ties (red planet)
Seriously funky string laden epic

Tori Amos - professional widow (Armand van helden remix) (atlantic)
Also got this in london last weekend. Never a fan of it when it came out originally (i love tori amos but the original track is pretty poor, although she does a version of this live on a video with Maynard James Keenan from Tool guesting on vocals... I was going to bring down some tool tonight, but I forgot my Cd wallet... oh well)

Shawn Ward - Shadows (Jori Hulkonnen remix) (street smart)
Hmmm... i've just realised i've had the wrong track in mind the whole time, and I thought the a side was on the b side and vice versa... silly me.. I even did a review of this, this is the *actual* jori hulkonnen remix

Decoy - Skin deep (D1)
Alan o Boyle donning his techno mantle... one of my favourite tracks of last year.

Fuse vs Lfo - Loop (plus8)
lfo lfo lfo lfo lfo lfo lfo lfo there you go

Ricardo Villalobos - Waiworinao (playhouse)
I'm actually not a fan of villalobos at all. most of his stuff just goes over my head completely, I'm going to break with the mold and say that I thought alcohofa was a pile of poo. But I really really dig this track. Its the B side on alcohofa tools.. completely diffeent to anything else i've heard him do..

Tons of tones - Activa (Urban sounds of amsterdam)
I found this in a second hand shop. Vintage Rachmad... yes I do have a steve rachmad fixation

Deetron - Miss Suave (Intec)
I'm not a fan of tribal techno.. anyone can just stick some bongo loops over a 909... most of Deetron's stuff is like that and really doesn't do anything for me at all... likewise with Intec, the MTV of Techno. But I do quite like this track

Digital Justice - Alternative Reality Part 1 : shapes (Fragile)
AS the sleevenotes say "all shenanigans performed at check yer head studios manchester uk" bless

Fix - Flash (Electro funk)
Reissue of Voorn's signature George Clinton sampling track

Laurent Garnier - Sambou (Fcomm)
One of the better tunes of last year, but I really didn't pick up on it until about a month ago. Garnier is one of my very favourite producers, and an exellent dj to boot.. a rare thing

Steve *ahem* Rachmad - Sinosphere (Sino)
This got robbed (along with my entire record and cd collection + decks + mixer) almost 2 years ago. We weren't reunited until about 6 months ago, when I bought it again. This one goes under my pillow at night.

Heiko Laux - Ornaments (synthesized) (kanzleramt)
mmm... nice...

Britney Spears - Toxic (jive)
I like it... f**k you.
