Just picked up the March Motormouth monthly today at Record Time. There's an interesting interview with Derrick May about the festival. Anyway, here's an excerpt:
mm: Can you tell us who will be playing this year? DM: We're hoping to get Erykah Badu. We wanted Radiohead, but they couldn't do it. We put in for Air; we're just waiting for callbacks on a lot of people. Francois K is coming back. Yello is not available. We're trying to get in touch with Mr. Eno--we really want to bring him. We're working with the French and Dutch ministries of Culture to bring over acts for a multicultural stage. We're not having all of the Detroit artists coming back, because if we really want to elevate this thing we have to share the wealth. I can't say anyone's confirmed--we wont's even sign contracts until the 1st of April. On act that we really did want to bring is Kraftwerk, but they wanted 6 figures.... Elsewhere Derrick says that Carl and Kevin will only be involved in promoting/advertising the festival--not in the organization or management. Scott Ellis
