I picked up a copy of Eddie Henderson's "Sunburst" on Blue Note not knowing
at the time I bought it that he was in Herbie Hancock's Sextet/Septet
and now I'm looking for similar type stuff

I know the whole Hancock/Headhunters connection - I'm looking for more
obscure stuff (beyond "Bitches Brew")

I really love George Duke's playing on this - serious stratospheric ARP,
Echnoplex, Mini Moog sounds
so maybe anything like that would be good (except Duke's later output is
not really my thing)

and it turns out the 313 connection in this is that Bennie Maupin played on
this album and the Detroit Experiment

so any suggestions for good fusion jazz/rock with enough funk in it to keep
it steering clear of smooth jazz?
