'Checkstub ' :the Official 2004 Movement Festival After-party on Saturday, May 29, 2004, will feature the sounds of Ghettotech, a style of music that originated in the streets and nightclubs of metro Detroit. Movement Festival organizers believe that events related to the festival should encompass all genres of electronic music, which include ghettotech, a fast-paced blend of hip-hop, drum and bass, electro, and techno infused with sometimes explicit lyrical content. All of the artists DJing at the event have their roots in Detroit. The line-up includes DJ Assault, DJ Godfather, Disco D, and Don Q. -DJ Assault currently releases records on Jefferson Ave./Intuit-Solar, and has released songs such as "Ass 'n Titties" which have turned into genre classics. -DJ Godfather is the head of Detroit based label Twilight 76. In addition to being the resident booty DJ for WDRQ-FM, Godfather maintains active on the touring DJ circuit and releases records on a regular basis such as the hit Player Haters in this House. -Currently residing in Brooklyn, NY, Disco D has released A Night at the Booty Bar on Tommy Boy Records and tours often to support his release. -Local hero Don Q is one of WJLBs Seven Deadly Technics and regularly DJs hip-hop and ghettotech all over the Detroit Metro area. By giving people an option of varied genres of music for after-parties, the Movement Festival hopes to bring more people to Hart Plaza for this years Movement Festival and also to introduce new genres of music to individuals who have yet to experience all facets of the electronic music world.
