Ian, How did the Dave Clarke tour go?
Dark stuff... I'm sure a few of you are into the darker side of techno. So here's a mix from Paul "meme" Dust... *******starts*********** I've completed a mix of Industrial music, titled The First Taste of Hope Is Fear: Ambient Industrial 1980-1987, which I thought those of you who are interested in the Industrial roots of techno might enjoy. Given the groundswell of interest in classical industrialism that has emerged recently, and the ongoing historification process surrounding industrial culture, I thought it would be useful to compile a selection of original pieces that to my ears have stood the test of time. The genre operated in the liminal space between modern underground art, politics and transcendence and I think a lot of that comes through in the mix. The music is atonal and beatless for much of its duration but is not dark for the sake of it. People seem to be enjoying it judging by the feedback I've had thus far. Artists featured include Throbbing Gristle, Einsturzende Neubauten, Coil, Test Dept, Psychic TV, Non and Laibach. You can download the mix from here: http://www.grievousangel.net/The_First_Taste_of_Hope_Is_Fear_Ambient_Industr ial_1980-1987_Mix.mp3 . It's half an hour long, and about 40Mb. Extensive notes on the music used are here: http://blog.grievousangel.net/index.php?p=195 *******Ends***********
