That is due to the lame IRDA connector which spreads noise into a soundcard input you can't switch off using Dell's drivers. There's a generic AC97 driver which works fine and let's you turn off all the crap you don't want. Or if you're adressing the groundnoise issue due to the powersupply, that can easily be fixed with a groundlifted powerplug. In fact,my I8200 doesn't make any unwanted noise.

my dell 8200 had a big prob with this (you could hear disk access and mouse movement!)

this new powerbook 12" has no probs in that area. and is one of the reasons i bought it.

please no OS war type follow ups to this please :).

bottom line for Ableton Live use tho would be an external audio interface (usb/firware/pcmcia) for lower latency and the ability to pre-listen to clips.
