EVERY sound I use in my productions is a sample! I mostly sample single

making
a record with an organ key of a herbie hancock song, a clap from "body
music" by the strikers, a kick from an old disco record, another organ
from
a lonnie liston smith recording, a shaker from a marvin gaye record (I
think), a drumloop (wich I cut up entirely) from a donald byrd
recording,
etc...
damn, when can i hear this track??? this is they way to sample...
Nobody can tell, i mean truly who is goign to say "i recognize that
1/16 shaker note from marvin gaye, pay up or i sue you"
wait.. the big name artists it could more likely happen to, but
sampling more obscure stuff, there's very little way. I actually
don't think it will change music much in our mostly underground world.
where runs are smaller.. things are lower to the ground anyway if you
have 1000 vinyl copies, it's not worth the legal fees. there's no
cashing in to be had, all scrappy young techno artists are one 909 away
from being broke anyway ;)
