We have discussed his "insights" at numerous points over the years. Basically, any music that doesn't fit his definition of "hardcore" (a somewhat malleable concept) is only fit for excision and derision.
All I can say about his dis on Jeff Mills is, every time I drop a Mills track in a set, the floor jumps with the "pure play of ideation." Simon Reynolds: autodidact or pretentious twit? Maybe both. -- fh
