i think regal/new religion are synonymous....regal is in fact the official name of the label -- hence the matrix #'s, and why all official business with new religion is conducted under the regal recordings name. there doesnt seem to officially be any new religion label! they're existentialist pikeys.
it is confusing tho because nowhere on the recent releases is the regal recordings name mentioned (unless you extrapolate from the matrix#), only new religion. hey alan oldham deserves some serious recognition for the cover art he's been doing for these records too!! beautiful multi-colored comicart-meets-popart. the ones for juan's stuff seem especially great. on the other hand, whoever does the layout/design needs to be drug thru the streets. every record looks identical, which is bad since the text is wicked hard to read on all of them, really looks like some bad indie-rock flyers i see around town. and that's just the a-side, then they mirror the text on the b-side, turning it into retarded klingon. it's so bad, i've even heard a couple people say they have trouble playing the records out because finding particular records/tracks is so hard..
