I got this, and it isn't at all electronic, as I was lead to believe. More
of a traditional score but v evocative. I still haven't seen the film yet
but I am determined to go easy on it after reading an interview with Oliver
Stone castigating himself for it. The film has done quite well in Aus. It
can't be as bad as Troy (though, ahem, Melbourne's own Eric Bana as Hector
redeemed even that). I have to thank Matt for recommending the Peter Gabriel
The Last Temptation Of Christ OST, that is a wonderful recording!

BTW what do people here make of things like the Soulwx/2 Many DJs phenom?

Some of the Detroit purists here hate on 'em, I don't know why, and I like
the idea of mixing up genres. I have been playing the How To Kill The DJ,
Part II, on Tigerbeat and really enjoyed it. There is some Basic Channel,
Carl Craig, but you also get The Cramps, The Stranglers and something
bizarre and cool like the Langley School Project's rendition of Good
Vibrations.

The second disk is very cruisy and starts with the Mulholland Drive Theme by
Angelo Badalamenti! I can't believe someone else picked that but it is
beautiful and very D May.

For soundtracks I can't beat the second Hans Zimmer/Lisa Gerrard (also from
Aus) Gladiator II OST with vocal excerpts from the film. There's a track
with dialogue with Joaquin Phoenix's Caesar challenging Maximus which is
kinda cool. They added an awful trance mix of the theme! Why do they do that?
