from a DJing perspective - small hole. Less fooling around with the adaptor
and if you don't have one then you can still play the record.
also I think it makes the record more durable and less likely to crack in
two
the large hole 7" records I think are cool if you're going for a nostalgia
thing (if you're pressing up soul/funk music)
