Well I knew Carl back when he was selling rave tickets from his flat in
Brighton and heard him out often (It was hard to miss him in the late 80s
early 90s) and I dont remember him once ever truly blowing me away. Sure he
would do the whole 6 deck mixing thing and he was definatly one of the more
competent mixers on the rave scene back then, but I always felt his track
selection, whatever genre he was playing, was just too obvious and
uninspired. Its as if he always had ambitions to be a radio friendly figure
and always played the 'big' tunes. I dunno, maybe I'm being harsh, but I
just feel as both an artist and a DJ he has always left me cold. If they
really wanted a big recognisable UK name to be represented on the movie then
Dave Clarke would actually have been the better bet maybe.
