I suppose there are people who have seen TP spin more than I but since we bring him to Iowa City regularly, I've seen him play more than any other DJ.
TP could play a nice smooth deep house set, but he never does. When he goes crazy on the kill switch, or rocks doubles to a standstill, he's in the moment with the crowd, and it's perfect. Sometimes when you listen later to the recording, it doesn't sound as good out of context. But I'd much rather see a DJ try things at the edges of their skills and not be perfect, than be perfect and boring. TP uses the tricks to hype people up, and he uses track selection to build a vibe. I've seen him skip records, and drop the beat while juggling, but I've never seen him empty a dancefloor.
