I have always been a Prince fan and this album has always sounded bad (you right, with lots of distortion on the vocals, especially LRC), even the CD release they put out after a couple of years. I'm guessing it was a bad pressing in the first place, and the CD was mastered from one of the LPs (which would be incredibly sad), or that the mix was terrible when they recorded it in the first place.
