Hello!

I don't know if there's a complete list anywhere, but there's bits of info all
over the Internet. I could name the most (over)used pieces of gear:

The most important drum-machines were:

Roland TR-808 (Kraftwerk:ish electro, the clean futuristic sound)
Roland TR-909 (the house beat)
Roland TR-727 (latin percussion, Derrick had one of those, didn't he?)

Synths were mostly Roland too, probably cos they were cheap, especially:

Roland SH-101
Roland TB-303 (the acid-machine, Mad Mike used it all the time)

Juan had a Yamaha DX7, Derrick had a DX-100 (the lo-resolution-digital-sounding
basslines)
Carl Craig later used the Kurzweil K-2000 for some strings (Goldie used that
too for Inner City Life -the 90s sound!) and the Roland 100M modular system.

Derricks sampler was an Ensoniq Mirage (with his own custom string-orchestra
samples I think)

Oh and Juans first ( I think) synth was a Korg MS-10, and Jeff Mills used a
Korg Mono/Poly

anyone have a list of the gear used for the early detroit techno? all
the way back to genesis. sorry if this has been answered a million
times, but i'm looking for a quick answer to include in a presentation,
and google is being a booch.

        thanks

        tom
