hi list,

someone mentioned yesterday, that peepz in his list are not talking about music anymore. maybe. maybe not. well, here's some thoughts on some albums and compilations i bought/got as promos lately:

recloose - hiatus on the horizon (peacefrog)
don't expect detroit house/techno as from his great 12"es on planet e.
dust is included, of course. has a great track included called "landed", deep, funked house in a matthew herbert-style. two nice broken-soul/house cuts, an interesting ska-bossa-track reminding me of the specials. some middle-rate tracks on there imho, though. but not bad at all.

whomadewho - dito (gomma)
tha illness. these swedish guys recently released a 12" with two cover versions of mr. oizo's "flat beat" and benny benassi's "satisfaction". style? info says: "maybe a connecting thing between "franz ferdinand"-kind of bands and a good acid house dj. expect (punk-)funk, italodisco, acidrock and PAAARRRTY. luv it or leave it.

major swellings - dito (noid)
major swellings is a prins thomas moniker. this is one for the discobeards. scheiss retro, scheiss zeitgeist i hear you say? i don't give a faack. he's a true master, another wunderkind from norway. if you like that kind of discoish-stuff, check the djhistory.com/forum and search for this latest mix live in osaka, splitted into 6 long parts! over 7 hours long! and the tracklisting!!! mamma mia, holy sh!t, mon dieu...

oh, you want TECHNO? take this:

va - kompakt total 6 (kompakt)
ya, i know, some think kompakt is boring, too big, always the same. totally wrong. this double!-cd (and nice price!, afaik) shows why: 24 tracks raging from subtle, filigree techno from dorau/koehncke, tocotronic remix by superpitcher/wassermann, mikkel metal to detroitish stuff from dirk leyers to bangers from heib and rex the dog. oh, and ambient stuff is there as well. essential compilation. (out on 25th august)

va - 2 rabimmel, 2 rabummel, 2 rabum, 2 bum bum (areal)
very dirty, very groaning, very overdosed electro/techno compilation from cologne. 12 tracks that make your head kaputt. you don't know basteroid, ada, metope, konfekt and ha.te? well, you better should. AREAL 010 ADA - BLINDHOUSE/LUCKYCHARM is one of my alltime faves, the new blondix 12" are very good too. try this, and listen to some of their stuff: www.areal-records.com

peace,
c*
