EEVO2501 Reviews

Interstellar Sounds (www.interstellarsounds.com)
“Breathtaking new EP signifying the long overdue return of Terrace. Stefan Robbers also recorded many releases for Djax-Up- Beats in the early nineties under various pseudonyms such as Board of Wisdom, R.E.C., Acid Junkies and Terrace, making Djax one of the most respected 'intelligent techno', as the style was dubbed at the time, labels of the day. Robbers then went on to establish his own label, Eevo-lute, recording under the Florence guise. This EP demonstrates Robbers' passion for emotive electronica, near-on outdoing the long-time Detroit masters at their own game in the process. Truly splendid.”

DJ Magazine (Richard Brophy)
“In the 90s, Stefan Robbers and his Eevolute label typified the adventurous spirit of European techno as much as fellow Dutchman Speedy J. Suddenly, Robbers went to ground and, apart from the odd release, has been strangely silent for the best part of a decade. ‘City Sounds’ might be a comeback record, but it shows that he has stuck to his trademark sound. The pulsing electro backing of ‘Lab Practice’ makes nods to current trends, but at the heart of this record are Robbers’ emotive, uplifting melodies and his brittle, fractured funk sensibility. 4/5”

Martin Dunst – LittleDetroit.net
“I haven't heard any "Terrace" since 1991, so this was most welcome return. This is the first of 4 EP's in the series from different artist that are somehow related, not that I'm sure how but somehow it doesn't really matter as it's a pretty fine record all on its own. It's an odd own to place, influences from Kraftwerk, Donna Summer, ItaloDisco, Detroit and Dub - they are all here but there's plenty of space woven in-between these making for something that has you nodding your head and thinking of distant lands. I wouldn't go as far as trippy but it's pretty close minus the damp hippy! The A-Side "Lab Practice" and "Absense" seem to capture this best, crisp drums, driving electro b-lines and cascading strings and 8 bit-riffs - it simply translates as big smiles on the floor or even in the cans. Looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do!”

Alex Waltz – Groove Magazin

The City" eine wirkliche Überraschung. •••••”
