City Centre Offices welcomes another new artist to the camp. Miguel Gil
Tertre, aka Strand, is from Madrid and has been one of the key figures
on the spanish scene for electronic music over the last couple of years.
Miguel has been collaborating with musicians from around the globe to
exchange sounds, ideas and influences. His first release for City Centre
Offices is a perfect example of how important it is these days to open
up the studio for sounds not created electronically. The "Viet E.P."
melts Strand's digital universe with ideas and sounds from his friends
and collaborators playing guitar, flügelhorn, trumpet, violin, drums and
the addictive singing of Paloma Sosa. Strand is neither an indieband
going digital nor a treated powerbook looking like a guitar. Strand is
something else, a new dimension added to the sound people call
Indietronics, a serious approach towards the idea of merging the best of
both worlds. Deep and haunting athmospheric melodies meet precise,
kicking beats meet chopped up samples meet the liberating sounds of
acoustic instruments. Lovely.
