I agree that most of it is pretty average, certainly not groundbreaking!
But there are a few tracks in amongst the average ones that are
actually rather good. DFA,s remix of The Juan Maclean's 'Dance With Me'
is a great piece of slowed down tripped out mesmeric house music, and
Luomo has just done a good job of remixing Black Dice's 'Smiling Off'.
Unlike for Tom, Trance is very much a feature of my life, I hear it on
the radio, see coverage of it in the press and get blasts of it pumping
out of people's cars all the time. It fills the clubs and generally
pollutes my musical life, so I'd actually be very glad if someone came
along to kill it off. Unfortunately, if this were to happen, it would
just be replaced by another genre created with the exclusive aim of
making piles of cash, which is the root of the problem really. Maybe
I'll join Tom and bury my head in the sand after all...

Three reasons I'm posting this:
All that DFA stuff is not very exciting to me.
Most people around me spin it as the next revolution in dance music,
the
punk rock knight that is going to slay the dragon progressive house
once
and for all.
I don't get it. All I hear is OK dance music that doesn't sound
especially
punky to me. Maybe I just shouldn't listen to anyone else.
