Immediately after I arrived, I received an urgent message to call home. When I called, I received the news: My mother was found dead in her bed that morning. Long story short, I had to catch the next flight back to Detroit (which was TODAY!!!). I'm finally back at home with my family, but I'm telling you... This is hard. Even as I write this, I can't get over the shock. It just doesn't seem real... But then I realize that I'm not having a nightmare... This is really happening to me right now.
