Hey I just remembered that Suss'd Records (Salsoul's UK unit) recently
did an excellent repress series of (some of) the original Salsoul
favourites. This wasn't some bodge job either. They acquired the
original masters and digitized them, then had them re-mastered by world
renowned mix-down/mastering engineer Tom Moulton.

I've got a few and whilst I'd love to have the orginlas, these
cleaned-up cuts are very nice and welcome indeed.

yep - I would start with the compilations and mixes

hear
Salsoul in context of other artists of the 70s)
http://www.discogs.com/release/580825
http://www.discogs.com/release/478496 - liner notes of this are here

I think by far the heart of Salsoul was Walter Gibbons - his mixes and
remixes are fantastic
find any Salsoul with a Walter Gibbons production and buy it!!

on this one http://www.discogs.com/release/261494
he threw in the sounds of real fireworks going off and crowd cheers
during
a big long breakdown - it's probably one of my favorites
they just don't do it like this anymore
