i still have high hopes for the rest of the lineup, but such a generic initial
schedule gives a bleak outlook....getting the feeling the DETROIT electronic
music festival is dead.. this seems just an electronic music festival in
detroit, with the scales tipped more than ever towards mainstream (and uhhh
noticably white) club culture than in previous years..... and i gotta say, all
this trendy minimal techno from europe, but if you are really into minimal
techno...where is rob hood!? he has yet to actually play at the festival right?
is stuff like "ark" really more familiar to people? well, at least dan bell is
there...i was really hoping for monolake too...

another joke is "Planet of the drums"...it's aka dieselboy and a bunch of other
clubby jungle dj's, the name of their very stale tour which has been going for
something like 7 years nonstop now. you could see it anywhere. if you had very
very bad taste.

well whatever, but it's pretty disheartening as so far it is a reflection of
all the trendy/empty/tired/sub-sub-genre-fied crap that gets me down about the
dance music world these days. but at least there is derrick, carl, dbx, orb,
and roy davis...and i'm curious about mark broom..
