I realize that for alot of you, the fest has morphed into something else
(for better, or for worse). I, for one, don't see this as a bad thing. It
may not be your idea of "detroit", but for what is going on in detroit
right now, it's pretty accurate.

this definitely represents an improvement. there are names on here im
unfamilar with, but is there any electro or ghetto tech on here? no
UR/submerge representation is a little sketchy as well, is it because
they werent asked or because they wouldnt play? huckaby and agent x
are good detroit house additions, but where are some of the younger
cats like omar-s and malik pittman? should be good to see john arnold
again, that dood is always so good. but again, i still dont see any
soul artists. there are definitely large chunks of the stuff of recent
years that were highlights that are now missing.

the industrial edge theyve added is interesting, but i dont know how
well those artists are going to cross over to any "goth" types or
whatever to draw more people. chemlab i wouldnt have chosen and i
guess ill watch nitzer ebb if no one else good is on. final cut im at
least slightly interested in because of jeff mills' involvement.

the addidion of blaze live should be nice, but im not much of a LLV fan.

I get where you are all coming from with the whole "theyve
turned it into a typical rave" thing, but lets be honest... look at the
festivals that are put on all around the world. Dont you feel this has
more to offer than, say... timewarp? Or even I Love Techno? I do. Its more
diverse than either of those, and with overall MUCH better music! (I dont
see any Happy Hardcore on there..)

i dont look at it as a competition. in fact, detroit has enough good
stuff that it CANT even be compared to other stuff.

Thats all I can say on the subject. Im going... plain and simple. I hope
alot of you do the same, but I can see why not. I re-listed the lineup,
listing what all I am excited about, and to me... thats a good time!

i mean, its going to be a big party in hart plaza with at least as
much good music as there was in 04 (though amp fiddler was one of the
highlights that year, i dont see anything thats going to match that on
this lineup!). and i had a good time then. and ill be there along with
the usual strong pittsburgh representation.
