Hi list,
italy now has it's very own techno book.
Andrea Benedetti, italian techno pioneer and plasmek label founder
(http://www.discogs.com/artist/Andrea+Benedetti), has just published his
book on techno, its origins and the italian techno movement. He was also
very influential in creating a bridge between rome and detroit.
unfortunately its in italian.......
here is an abstract, translated from italian to english courtesy of google:
"Techno music boasts a history more than ventennale by now, but a lot to
being taken in consideration has faticato, above all from the critic. This
book gives back the just value to the happened more meaningful sonorous
revolution after the punk, and ago with measure, but also with passion,
telling history of its protagonists, often little known, analyzing without
to banalize the reasons of the happened one of the brani manifest of this
style. Andrea Blessed evacuation the field from the many musical and social
prejudgments that have accompanied the production and the consumption of the
Techno and trace in way rations them and balanced the history of the
"movement", its contese origins between the two coasts of the Atlantic and
above all of the Italian scene. Because also Italy has given its
contribution, showing a true and own school, lively and extremely
productive, although osteggiata from the average and neglected even from the
specialistic press. Rich of details and anecdotes, the told history of the
techno Italian from Blessed is direct testimony and precious about
"one-that-there it was" and faithful report of the events and the
initiatives that have fed the "scene" from its beginnings to the days today,
from the dj about the Afro, to the protagonists a po' trash and soon it
forgets you about the Italian Disc to the exploit, between the others, Lory
D, Mark Passarani, Mark Carola and Gaetano Parisio. There is all that that
you want to know, all that that there is from knowledge. "
