Yeah, Alex Under totally killed it. I was really grumpy about UR
noshowing and I wasn't impressed by Thomas Brinkmann. Noze was weird,
Mossa was good. Dandy Jack was OK and Guillaume Coutu-Dumont was also
good. My fiancee saw Stephen Beaupre and has a new celebrity crush.
How was the picnic yesterday? The weather report was positive but I
left Montreal at 9AM :(

Alex Under is the man he stole the show on Friday. Way better than
both his records and previous live sets that I have heard. People
went nuts. And Dimbiman did an excellent closing set that was
consistant and provocative, without being too arty. The first
piknik was moved indoors and was ok, more social than full on,
heard a couple of interesting if somewhat too housey sets, but all
would have been better in a park than in a wharehouse with yet
another concrete floor. At the show tonight tragically no UR, but
caught the Detroit grand pubahs, and it was surreal them chanting
booty lyrics while arty visuals of a man washing his face were on
the monitors. Sweet space, but just too weird, and kind of
terrible sounding live pa with gratuitous guitar usage, I am not
sure if that is crossing over or what. I am in recovery for
tomorrow. I am generally enjoying the fest, I have met a dump
truck full of people, and things are friendly and mellow here and
the pastries are the !

s. No rain tomorrow please...
