My brief whirlwind world tour starts next week.
I touch down in Manchester, England for a 22-hour stopover
next Monday morning, at 8:30 or so. I've already been in
touch with Greater Mancunians Robin, Francis and Alex
about a meet'n'greet around dinner time Monday evening.
Anyone else there, feel free to hit me back. I'll have to
find some way to amuse myself in Manchester and environs
during the afternoon. (Might go to Macclesfield for a wee
chat with Ian Curtis's ashes. Have to give him some stick
for not showing up to the LA gig I was going to see Joy
Division play on June 6th 1980, y'know.)
Then it's on to Barca on Tuesday for Sonar week - I'll
be ensconced in a Barceloneta apartment 2 blocks from
the sand for the duration, returning to Manchester on
Monday the 19th. Not sure about Sonar itself - no
real interest in the CCCB goings-on, and the only people
I'm interested in seeing are playing at Sonar Noche, but
I hate that godawful mausoleum in L'Hospitalet so I may
opt for the clubs instead, not sure yet. If anyone's
going to Sonar as well, raise a virtual hand. I'll see
former 313'er Juanjo Ramirez there; maybe Mr. Craddock
and Mr. Butler as well?
