I actually look at every e-mail address before approving it as a subscriber, and only subscribers can post.
Since I have plenty of other concerns, I don't read every post to 313, but I do scan subject lines, so if a spammer ever sneaks onto 313 they'll only last until the next time I look at my 313 mail folder. I don't know what the problem with idm is -- I'm not sure who is adminning idm, or if they've stopped monitoring the list, or if some fiendishly clever spammer has figured out how to put their crap on the list...
