I meant to post this on Monday, but you know what it's like...

The most striking thing about the night was the sound-system I’m afraid. I
have to agree with many others and say that it just wasn’t loud enough.
Sure, nearer the front it was much better – but during Los Hermanos it was
rammed in there. For a room that size they should have had some speakers
along the side too. Don’t think that I am one of those whinging types, or –
god forbid – a purist. I just think it should have been loud enough to make
my chest pound, my guts shake and my ears ring for a week afterwards. I was
delighted when I realised that Mark Flash was part of the Los Hermanos crew.
I saw him a couple of times in a teeny tiny club in Bristol about 5 or 6
years ago. A few local promoters had some contacts at UR and got a
contingent to play in this bar for about 100 punters. It was an amazing
night. As a DJ, his style and selection is similar to T.P. Anyway, I
reminisce. I missed DJ 3000 because we were checking out Jamie Lidell who
for me was the highlight of the night. He is an amazing performer. Great
music and a lot of fun. That is the problem with techno – it isn’t all that
fun sometimes :)

Octave One were so-so I thought. I loved the classics, but I was a bit
underwhelmed by the newer material. It seemed a bit ‘techno by numbers’ to
me. By the time they played Blackwater I had lost most of my enthusiasm –
but then I was also knackered and slumped against the bar. It was only when
Rob Hood came on that I picked up again. I ended up leaving before the end
of his set but looking back, I can’t help but feel that I probably missed
out on the best thing of the night in some way.

A good night all in all. And a great cooked breakfast at the Koffee Pot.
Just what you need after a heavy night heh heh.
